The new Observer Membership Agreement passed with TEİAŞ (Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation) was formalised. This agreement will run for a period of three years taking effect on 1 January 2023. This decision follows an application submitted by TEİAŞ to obtain ENTSO-E Observer status which was approved at the ENTSO-E Assembly meeting last October.
With this agreement, the European TSOs express their commitment to strengthen and develop cooperation towards interconnected power systems and with that to continue fulfilling their responsibility of keeping the lights on in Europe and beyond.
At the signing of the Observer Membership Agreement, the President of ENTSO-E, Mr Hervé Laffaye, remarked: “I would like to congratulate all those who have been working on this Observer Membership Agreement that will reinforce cooperation and support sharing of best practices to maintain transmission power system stability.”
The Observer Membership Agreement was signed in Brussels by Hervé Laffaye, President of ENTSO-E and Orhan Kaldırım, Chairman of the Board & General Manager of TEİAŞ in presence of Sonya Twohig, ENTSO-E Secretary General, Zbyněk Boldiš Vice-President of ENTSO-E, Joachim Vanzetta Chair of the ENTSO-E Board as well as Deniz Coşkun, Deputy General Manager of TEİAŞ, Serhat Metin, Head of Planning & Investment Management of TEİAŞ and Mehmet Kara, Manager of Foreign Affairs of TEİAŞ.
