ENTSO-E publishes today the draft list of electricity infrastructure projects that will be assessed in the next edition of the Ten-year Network Development Plan (TYNDP). 141 transmission projects and 23 storage projects compose the TYNDP 2022 draft project portfolio.
ENTSO-Eās biennial TYNDP is the pan-European electricity infrastructure plan, identifying gaps in infrastructure from a pan-European perspective and assessing infrastructure projects. The TYNDP is the outcome of a two-year process that starts with the development of scenarios of how the European power system might look in 2030 and 2040. ENTSO-E will then look at where new investments in the electricity system in 2030 and 2040 would bring economic, environmental or safety benefits to Europeans. The TYNDP process will conclude with the cost-benefit analysis of infrastructure projects.
The TYNDP 2022 projects portfolio consists of 164 projects proposed by project promoters in September-October 2021. ENTSO-E has verified the conformity of all applications with the criteria for admission in TYNDP 2022. A total of 7 projects were found not to comply with the administrative pass-fail criteria.
The next step in the TYNDP process is the release of the final (post-public consultation) TYNDP 2022 scenarios, expected in February 2022. The System Needs study ā identifying gaps in the power system ā and the results of the cost-benefit analysis of projects will follow in the summer of 2022.
