ENTSO-E Chair of the Board, Mr Joachim Vanzetta, Director System Control of Amprion, and Board Members
A new ENTSO-E leadership team was confirmed today by the association’s Assembly and will take office as of 28 June. This newly elected team is led by the President, Mr Hervé Laffaye, Deputy CEO of RTE (Réseau de Transport d’Electricité), the French transmission system operator; the Vice-President, Mr Zbyněk Boldiš, Member of the Board of Directors of ČEPS, the Czech transmission system operator; the Chair of the Board, Mr Joachim Vanzetta, Director System Control of Amprion, one of the four German TSOs; and by the Vice Chair of the Board who will be elected in the first regular meeting of the new Board after summer.
Hervé Laffaye, declared: “I thank the ENTSO-E Assembly for electing me as its President. I am honoured to be leading an association which is renowned for its expertise thanks to the intense and constant involvement of TSOs across Europe. The new Chairman of the Board, Mr Joachim Vanzetta, and I are committed to ensuring that this association fully supports the TSOs in enabling a secure and cost-efficient transition for all Europeans”.
Joachim Vanzetta confirmed that: “ENTSO-E’s agenda comprises several strategic targets to support the TSO community in preparing the power system of 2020, 2030 and beyond, in ensuring transparent implementation of existing and new legislation while keeping an excellent level of system security. All European TSOs – EU and non-EU – have indeed the joint responsibility of guaranteeing the security of a power system that serves over half a billion citizens. ENTSO-E will be a key enabler in the fulfilment of this mission by enhancing regional and external cooperation and delivering innovative projects”.
Mr Laffaye and Mr Vanzetta replace respectively Mr Ben Voorhorst, Chief Operating Officer at TenneT TSO BV, the Dutch TSO, and Mrs Bente Hagem, Executive Vice-President responsible for European Affairs at Statnett, the Norwegian TSO. Mr Voorhorst, Mrs Hagem and all members of the previous leadership team were warmly thanked by the Assembly.
The Chairs of the ENTSO-E Committees and of the Legal and Regulatory Group will also come into office on 28 June. Mr Hakon Borgen, Executive Vice President of Technology & Development at Statnett SF, will chair the Research, Development and Innovation Committee, and Mr Tahir Kapetanovic, Head of Austrian Power Grid National Control Centre, the System Operations Committee. The mandates of Mrs Inés de la Barreda, Head of Department of Cooperation with International Organizations in REE, Spanish TSO, Mr Konrad Purchała, Director for European Integration Policy at PSE, Polish TSO, and Mr Dimitrios Chaniotis, Senior Advisor to the Director of Power System Economics at RTE, were renewed respectively as Chair of the Legal and Regulatory Group, Chair of the Market Committee and Chair of the System Development Committee.
The new Board is composed of the following members: Mrs Pascale Fonck (Elia), Mr Guido Guida (Terna), Mr Frank-Peter Hansen (TenneT), Mr Michael Jesberger (TransnetBW), Mr Søren Dupont Kristensen (Energinet), Mr Manos Manousakis (IPTO), Mr Robert Paprocki (PSE), Mr Eduardo Prieto (REE), Mr Fintan Slye (National Grid), Mr Daivis Virbickas (Litgrid) and Mr Yves Zumwald (Swissgrid).
ENTSO-E’s mandates last two years and can be renewed once.
